Each half-term we will follow a general topic or theme. This can vary from Numbers, Colours & Shapes, to creepy crawlies, to Knights & Princesses. We take our lead on this from the children we currently have and what their interests are.
Within that broad theme we will then plan various activities for each day. These will be planned with the children’s abilities and next development steps in mind, but will all be based around the principle of learning through play.
In the small room there is always space for the children to be quiet, and we have developed this as a sensory room. Books are available throughout the areas of the setting for the children to access. The home corner is available daily with lots of items for the children to engage in role play with. There will always be opportunity for mark making, and craft activities. Whilst we will select various toys and activities to be available each day the children are free to select other items from a large selection of draws if they wish to do so.
Whenever possible we have some time outside in our garden every day. We have a large canopy across part of the garden area and so this provides shelter from sun and rain alike!
We share a healthy snack together every day – this may be things such as fruit, cheese, yoghurt, toast. We enjoy sharing in a birthday cake sent in from home on each child’s special day. Children are offered milk or water to drink.
We cater for children with a variety of Special Educational Needs - for more information on this please view our
